Everyone loves the fall season with its warm color tones and deep dark hues, reminding us that summer is nearly gone. But the transition into fall is finally here and it also brings along a few great friends, or what I also like to call a few great accessories.  At Cottage by the Sea, let us welcome you into the world of wonderful scarves. A staple in fashion’s fall wardrobe and an exceptionally easy piece to vamp up any look.  We’ve brought out a variety of scarves in different colors, patterns, weight, and textures that are sure to add some visual boost to any outfit. My own personal favorite scarf that I had to buy right away was our Navajo dreamer scarf in orange seen below in the first picture on model Corinne. I fell in love with the MISSONI inspired print and for those of you who missed the MISSONI + TARGET launch a couple days ago, I’d say this is definitely the next best thing! The scarf’s array of colors and pop of orange add a fun color against a creamy white colored cardigan or top.  The best part is that all our scarves run from $24-$26. And ladies, don't think that scarves are only for your neck. Tie a scarf to an old handbag lying in your closet. A scarf's design and color can liven up any bag, especially one that is solid colored.

With all the fun we're having, we're excited to introduce our "Summer Castaway" windows that have adorn our lovely windows here at the store!! (Can summer please stay with us for just a bit longer?!)


Our fabulous design team and talented photographer, Josue have done it again, capturing the looks if you got beach, sun, and fun on your mind. Our windows are filled with our very own private, jewelry line Tidepool Collection that are creations made from shells and sea glass from our very own Hawai'i beaches.

My favorite pieces are the shell bangles, made with medleys of cone shells, puka shells and cowry shells. I have a couple of them and I can't get enough!

Much kudos to our awesome Facebook fans, for voting to help pick our top looks.  We couldn't have done it without you fans, so thank you, thank you! Our two winning looks were, "Waiting for Love" with our customer fave, Sea Breeze Dress and "Take Me Away" with our Marilyn Maxi.

Memorial Day weekend is upon us and you know what that means…summer is OFFFICIALLY here!! I’m getting excited for the endless days of sunshine, beach barbeques, and well of course, the fun of travel with summer getaways. Here at Cottage by the Sea, we’re being inspired by some of our own favorite travels of places like Paris and Milan.  In result, our “Wandering Ways” has themed our fabulous windows here at the store (can I say love, love, love)!

April is upon, need I mention it is one of my favorite months of the year!! This Spring here at Cottage by the Sea it’s all about fun tops, floral flow dresses, and feathers! Yes you read correct, feathers have become a hot trend this season. I love how it adds an edgy and earthy look for any occasion. Here are some ways you can incorporate this trend into your style.

A lot of our designers are now using feather charms and even actual feathers into their jewelry. One of our local artists Soulo Birdie makes these dream catching, dream catchers ($25-$30) with colorful threads, beads and fun feathers. Once I saw these I knew I had to get one! I wear mines with just jeans and my fave dolman top from our store, Forest Hike! We even have earrings by an up and coming artist, that uses bold peacock feathers and leather that start from only $28!

However, for all my gals who are bit more into the classic look, our celeb designer Gorjana has been making feather designed pieces out of sterling silver and gold filled. We all know the saying “out with the old, in with new”. But oddly as it sounds, I prefer the saying “out with the new, in with the old”. Especially when you’re talking to a complete vintage lover like me, I find myself adoring vintage inspired pieces more than contemporary ones. Vintage style is unchanging, captivating, and not too mention exceptionally cute. All the girls here at Cottage by the Sea just love the new stuff we get in weekly! So I asked them what are their favorites and show our awesome customers our “Cottage Style.” Here are recommendations and tips from the Cottage gals themselves!

Marisa, who’s one of our experts at styling here at Cottage has two top favorites here at the store. Her first pick is our new white, studded crop top that’s only $45! You can see how she rocks this crop top in this photo. Marisa says, “Now that we are in Spring, white is the perfect color because of it’s refreshing and light look.”

This crop top has a cool burnout material with pretty chiffon sleeves. Plus, Marisa loves the subtle studding trim, it gives a little of that “edgy” feel too. The crop top has made its way back into spring and onto our racks at Cottage by the Sea. I know some of you may be thinking that a crop top is nearly impossible to pull off. The words “crop” may even have you shying away from this newest and sweetest 2011 spring trend that many fashion designers have been constantly re-inventing.

However, Cottage has got you covered! I’ve chosen two great slightly cropped and boxy style tops that will give you all the confidence you need to strut down any runway.
